Mini Split Ductless Air Conditioning/Heating Pro’s and Con’s?
So here is the deal, I have a house that was built in the early 40s. It is about 1200 square feet and does not have duct work. I have been looking into a few different options and it looks like central heat and air is going to be Pretty expensive. I have window units now and I am not very satisfied, I like it pretty cool in my house. Does the ductless air conditioning keep it pretty cool? I live in texas and our summers are known to be from 90-105 so the window units just don’t cut it. Are they very noisy? Does it keep it warm in the winter (it gets pretty chilly here)? If you have it, would you recommend it or would it be worth it to just go all out and get the duct work installed? I have been researching it some online and it seems like a nice alternative, I just wanted to hear from somebody who has had experience with the system. Any advice you have would be awesome. Thanks!
Pro’s:
Quieter than window units.
More efficient than most window units.
Less heat gain because you can close your windows again.
Will have the option to open your windows for natural ventilation during that week period when it’s nice outside in TX
Cons:
Only made to run one or two rooms from a unit.
Much more expensive than window units.
I would think you have central heating, couldn’t you use that ductwork?
